Big girl bed!

A couple of weeks ago Daddy picked up Violet's big girl bed! I ordered the sweetest and softest organic bedding with sweet cottage print, not too 'baby', not to grown up. Her little face lit up when she saw it and she said "Wow...AWESOME!" when she saw everything for the first time all set up.  Hearing my little baby say the word awesome about her new bed just about made my week!

Here she is on seeing her bed for the first time...(the color is off on this picture, it is not even close to neon!)

So Violet has a girly nook inside their shared bedroom, who knew the bed would be a such a perfect fit for this space? It it was half and inch longer it wouldn't have got in there. She looks so tiny like the Princess and the Pea in this new bed! I added the dresser from downstairs as somewhere for her to display her pretty things but thought better of it and took it away since we are not bed rail people. Is it strange that I worry about kids getting stuck between the bed and the bed rail during the night considering bed rails are supposed to be there for safety reasons?! I would rather they learn where the edge of the bed is and pad the floor with extra pillows... Anyway three weeks later and she hasn't fell out! Maybe I will paint the bedside table white since the green doesn't match and bring it back in a fews months time.

Feeling sleepy and ready for her first night as a big girl.

The crib/toddler bed lay in pieces against my bedroom wall for a week reminding me that there are no more 'babies' in this house but two children now. It's a little bitter sweet.

And lets not forget Caden's side of the room! I considered doing the same striped bedding in different boy-girl colors to keep the room more cohesive but decided that Violet has every right to a girly bedroom as Caden does to a boyish bedroom, so what if its not matchy-matchy? Matchy-matchy is boring anyway! I feel Caden is fast outgrowing his sailboat theme and we might have to go for Pottery Barn's Star Wars bedding before the year is up!

From this above, to this below in a matter of seconds...

And here is princess snuggling up with her beloved Owlie McPillow Pants.

Shhhh, kids sleeping!
