Au natural beach head!

This was Caden first true beach day as a toddler! A very different experience to last summer! It would be true to say that the day got better as it went on...
We started by driving half way there and realizing we'd left his beach tent at home, it was an 80 degree day so we figured we would need it so back home we drove to get it! Then just as we thought we were getting there the sat-nav declared 'destination' in the middle of a Westhampton residential street. Needless to say, it didn't look much like Cupsogue Beach to us. So finally we got to Dune Road and realized we had 5 miles to our 'new' destination and 10 miles left of gas...Oh and of course and the nearest gas station was 10 miles away. At this point we thought to hell with it and continued on the the beach!!
Thankfully Caden slept the whole time and opened his eyes as we parked the car! After setting up the tent, Caden was excited to sit in it but it was only a matter of minutes until he got mad with his 'jelly and sand' sandwiches and started to lose it in frustration (he didn't know the half of it)! So now he is covered in jello, sand and snot to boot.
After people started looking from all directions at the annoying parents who bought the screaming baby to Westhampton beach, I took him for a walk to the refreshment stand and cleaned him off. He was very happy to play with the water fountain! But then I noticed he had an angry sunburn down one side of his face, afterall, his poor baby skin hadn't seen the sun for a looong time. It looked terrible. Obviously he was covered in sunscreen/wearing a hat/in an SPF bathing suit but I panicked and thought perhaps it had happened in the car on the way so we returned to tell Mike it was time to go! He agreed as it looked awful and took him to the water while I put down the tent I'd just put up.
By the time everything was neatly put away Mike came back and Caden's 'severe sunburn' had magically gone away. I guess it was the deep exfoliating sand-scrub facial he'd given himself when we'd got mad with his helpless sandwich. Those Hamptons women would pay good money for that. Needless to say he didn't want to sit on the beach anyway, he wanted to run around on the wet sand by the water, dip his does in the water and bang pebbles together, so we took it in turns of doing this with him and guess what? We ended having THE BEST day! We even made it to the gas station on the way home after driving on empty for a few miles. It really was a blast and Caden had a great time as you can see by the pictures! So now we know. Scratch the tent and definitely scratch the sandwiches! Do anyone of our sans-child friends want to join us at the beach next weekend?!!
